Italy
Lake Como, Tuscany, Amalfi and the cities in between.
Italy rewards those who slow down. The combination of art, food, landscape and hospitality is unlike anywhere else in the world — but it is best experienced without rushing between too many cities.
May to June and September to October offer the best balance of weather, crowds and cost. July and August can be very hot and crowded in the south.
For a first trip, we suggest Lake Como and Tuscany over two weeks rather than trying to cover Rome, Florence, Venice and Amalfi in one go. Italy is better absorbed slowly.

Our View on Italy
For families, we often suggest pairing Lake Como with a Tuscan villa rental. For couples, the Amalfi Coast in late September is exceptional. Do not try to do everything in one trip.
